L’Éloge de l’eau
This lazer cut and painted cover gives texture and emphasizes the poetic mood of the book.

The book is seen as a poetic exploration on symbolism, rituals, and built environment. To accompany the text and the numerous drawings in the book, the cover needed to attract the reader and remind him of fairy tales.
The pattern was first drawn by hand and then redrawn and cleaned for the computer to use. Black matte cardboard was engraved and cut with a lazer cutting machine. Then, a layer of masking tape was applied, cut again with the lazer, and small parts removed to allow them to be varnished. The process was then repeated a second time to single out what needed to be sprayed silver.
The resulting cover and a maching but simpler back cover were glued to light blue paper. Black fabric was apposed to the edge.
